Two minutes in and it becomes strangely absorbing. Needs nothing at all.

What you need

Nothing at all.

How to do it

  1. Stand facing each other, close enough to reach.
  2. One leads, moving very slowly. The other mirrors exactly.
  3. No talking and no sudden movements.
  4. After two minutes, swap without stopping the movement.
  5. Finally, try it with neither person officially leading.

Why this is good for them

Mirroring requires continuous close attention to another person, and the no-leader version is genuinely difficult because it demands mutual attunement rather than instruction. It is also calming in a way that surprises children who expect a game to be exciting.

Adapting by age

3 to 4 yearsHands and faces only, and keep it short.
11 to 12 yearsAdd a rule that movements must be continuous, never stopping.

Keep it safe

Clear space, no fast movements.

Cleanup tip

None.
