Ten Photograph Walk
Ten pictures on the walk. Only ten. Choose carefully.
A limit is what makes this work, because it forces them to look before shooting.
What you need
- a phone or camera
How to do it
- Agree a theme before you leave: things that are round, or doors, or the colour red.
- They get exactly ten photographs for the whole walk.
- No deleting and retaking. Each shot counts.
- At home, look through them and choose the best three.
- Say why those three and not the others.
Why this is good for them
Scarcity forces composition. With unlimited shots children photograph everything and look at nothing, but ten makes them stop and frame. Justifying the final three is the critical thinking part, and it is harder than taking the pictures.
Adapting by age

Keep it safe
Do not photograph other people or their children without permission. Stay off private property.
Cleanup tip
Move the keepers into a folder so they are not lost.
